Young girl with Down syndrome graduates with a degree in fine arts and her father shares her pride and joy

Jay Handlin is an incredibly proud father, and with good reason: his daughter Rachel, despite having Down syndrome, managed to obtain her university degree in photography, a remarkable accomplishment.

Rachel Handlin pursued her passion for art and photography by attending the California Institute of the Arts, also known as CalArts. After years of effort and determination, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in fine arts, specializing in photography and media.

His father, Jay Handlin, is a strong advocate for the inclusion of people with disabilities in society. When he shared the news of Rachel’s achievement on Twitter, he emotionally expressed his pride, declaring that he was «officially the proudest dad on the planet.»

Rachel’s journey is remarkable, especially when you consider that only one in a million people with Down syndrome go on to earn a college degree.
